Many of the suitors try to lift the bow together, but it does not budge. They get mad at Janaka for having such an impossible task. Janaka himself shares his disappointment with the incompetence of the men present. Upon hearing his disapproval, Lakshmana becomes angry, as he feels Janaka's statement is an insult to Rama's capabilities. Meanwhile, Sita prays to Parvati that she will perform 14 years of penance in exchange for Rama lifting the bow and becoming her husband.
