Rachael Ray and Guy Fieri each pick four children to mentor in cooking challenges in the series premiere. Their first task is to create a signature dish; and later, First Lady Michelle Obama makes a surprise appearance and asks the kid chefs to whip up a fresh and delicious lunch to be tasted by teen star Stefanie Scott.
In the finale episode, eight kid chefs attempt to trick a room full of culinary superstars including Melissa d'Arabian, Eric Greenspan and Richard Blais as well as celebrity guest Jennie Garth, into thinking their food was made by real adult chefs. Afterward, Rachael and Guy will announce the winner of the competition: Everyone walks away improved as a rising chef, but only one kid will land his or her own show to debut on FoodNetwork.com right after the finale airs.
Eight talented young chefs arrive to the RvG Kids Kitchen ready to prove they've got what it takes to win their own web series on foodnetwork.com. To pick teams, Rachael and Guy give the kids their first Mini Challenge, where they're tasked with making a family favorite meal. Once the teams are selected, it's time for the Main Challenge, where the kids will have to create their own unique street food offering, and present it in their Camera Challenge, judged by Chef Wolfgang Puck and his family.
This week, the kids are challenged on their knowledge of ingredients. In the Mini Challenge, they must decipher ingredients while blindfolded. Then, it's a Chopped-style Main Challenge, where a video message from Ted Allen introduces their head-to-head Mystery Basket challenge, judged by Chopped judge and Iron Chef, Alex Guarnaschelli!
In this week's Mini Challenge, the kids have to make whatever they want — as long as the featured ingredient is the one they hate the most! Then in the Main Challenge, Rachael and Guy reveal that the Mini Chefs must use a sandwich as an inspiration for a multi-component entree. And who better to judge their dish and Camera Challenge, than Jeff Mauro, the Sandwich King!
After tasting dishes that their parents may have had as kids, like salmon mousse and ambrosia, the kids choose one retro dish to modernize. In the Main Challenge, the kids will be asked to create a classic Southern barbecue, using ingredients that the other team picks for them. Chef G. Garvin comes to the kitchen to judge the kids on their barbecues and Camera Challenges!
Rachael and Guy invite Chef Robert Irvine into the kitchen to coach and mentor the kids in the Mini Challenge. After working as a team to unscramble a jumbled recipe, each kid chef will execute their dish while Robert coaches them on. Then, in the Main Challenge, the kids take on the oceanic delights in the kitchen's seafood tower in an effort to impress guest judge Iron Chef Cat Cora.
There's only one epic challenge left for these amazing kid chefs. The kids host a Food Festival where they will cook and perform a live demo of their signature dish for a hungry crowd. The festival goers weigh in via comment cards, but the final decision rests with Chef Curtis Stone, who will crown the winner.
Eight of the country's most talented kid chefs come together to battle it out in Rachael Ray's Kids Cook-Off. Rachael and guest judge Robert Irvine present the chefs with their first challenge to find out what makes each kid unique and who will make it to the next round.
After making it past the first elimination, seven kid chefs put their own spin on a fast food classic. Food critic and internet video star Daymon Patterson joins Rachael Ray to judge the Cook-Off.
The six remaining kid chefs are put to the test as they show off their signature flavors in a pasta dish and create their own food product. The competition is fierce, as they must impress Rachael Ray and best-selling cookbook author Fabio Viviani to stay in the running.
The five remaining kid chefs cook and present the dish that changed their lives. Celebrity chef and The Kitchen co-host Sunny Anderson joins Rachael Ray to judge the Cook-Off, and must decide which kids will continue on in the competition.
The competitors left in Rachael Ray's Kids Cook-Off cook up some monstrous meals inspired by the new release of Hotel Transylvania 2. The competition is heating up as guest judge Jeff Mauro must choose the three kids who will continue on to the finale.
In the finale, three kid chefs battle it out one last time to determine who will be named Rachael Ray's Kids Cook-Off Champion, winning a $20,000 culinary scholarship and their own web series. The stakes are high as they cook to impress Chopped judges Scott Conant, Alex Guarnaschelli, Amanda Freitag and Marcus Samuelsson.
