Gleich zwei Zeitreisen macht Nigel gemeinsam mit der Großkatzen-Expertin Saba Douglas-Hamilton nach Südamerika, um ein Pärchen Säbelzahnkatzen (Smilodon) für die Gegenwart zu retten. Aber natürlich bekommt er es dabei auch mit dem berühmten Terrorvogel Phorusrhacus zu tun.
Today we have five species of big cat, in the past there have been 30 and Nigel decides to rescue the most famous extinct prehistoric feline of all: the Sabre Tooth. Often referred to as the Sabre Tooth Tiger, this is incorrect as the creature was not a tiger but a big cat. Three million years ago the Smilodon, or Sabre Tooth, was top predator in North America and, when the landmasses of North and South came together, it entered the territory of South America’s top carnivore, the Phorusrhacid or Terror Bird: a three-metre tall flightless flesh eater!
Nigel, avec l'aide d'une vétérinaire de renom, va essayer de sauver un phorusrhacos et deux tigres à dents de sabre de l'extinction...
Nigel decide añadir un felino a su parque. Tras mirar las distintas especies de felinos prehistóricos, Nigel se decide por el esmilodonte, también llamado tigre dientes de sable. También decide añadir un forusracos, un ave del terror.
