Ash tritt das Rematch gegen Norman an. Maike ist schon sehr gespannt, wie es ausgeht. Doch Max ist felsenfest davon überzeugt, dass nur sein Dad gewinnen kann. Norman und Ash tragen ein Drei-gegen-Drei-Match aus. Wer als erstes drei kampfunfähige Pokémon hat, hat verloren. Im ersten Match tritt Bummelz gegen Pikachu an. Bummelz ist ein erstklassiges Pokémon. Pikachu kann ihm mit seinen Tempo-Attacken nichts anhaben. Ash ersetzt es durch Qurtel. Und Qurtel setzt mit einer einzigen Attacke Bummelz außer Gefecht. Norman lobt Ashs gut trainiertes Qurtel. Im zweiten Match setzt Norman Muntier ein. Ash unterschätzt Muntier und verliert. Qurtel scheidet aus. Als nächstes kämpft Muntier gegen Pikachu. Pikachu gewinnt durch seinen großen Einsatz, fällt dann aber geschwächt um. Jetzt haben sowohl Norman als auch Ash nur noch ein Pokémon zur Verfügung. Letarking und Reptain geben alles. Es wird ein hartes Match. Doch Ash gewinnt schließlich seinen 5. Orden! Max ist geschockt. Aber seine Freunde und seine Familie können ihm klar machen, dass nur die Einstellung in einem Kampf zählt und weniger der Ausgang. Max beruhigt sich und gratuliert seinem Freund Ash zu dessen Sieg.
Having already won four badges during his adventures in Hoenn, Ash finally starts his long-awaited rematch with Norman, except this time it is an official Gym Battle with a Balance Badge on the line! Ash begins with Pikachu while Norman starts with a fast Slakoth which Pikachu is unable to hit, and after receivng a bit of damage, Ash is forced to change to Torkoal to counter Slakoth's Blizzard attack. With Norman's Vigoroth and Slaking still to come, and Max rooting for his father to win, can Ash defeat the toughest Gym Leader he's faced so far...
