Griffin McElroy kicks off his first Nuzlocke run Pokemon Y, and adds the first three beloved members to his team.
Griffin adds a couple of precious children to his team, and takes on his first gym challenge. He also begins to realize that, hey, this Nuzlocke stuff might be harder than he thought.
I'm on a hot streak of none of my precious, precious Pokéfriends dying terrible deaths during this Nuzlocke run of Pokémon Y — but how long can I keep that streak alive? Can I keep a brand new friend safe from a horde of big-pantsed lizards? Also, can I further Team Yiffin's ultimate quest? Which is to say: How quickly can I improve my fashions?
WHY are these DOGS so POWERFUL though?
I'm making progress in my Nuzlocke run of Pokémon Y, following my heartbreaking first loss in last week's episode. But this week, I'm taking on the game's second Trainer Gym, which features some surprisingly durable Rock-type Pokémon. Can I protect my precious children from their bouldery onslaught? Or will Sea Breeze get some unexpected company up in Pokémon Heaven?
The past couple episodes of this, my Nuzlocke run through Pokémon Y, have hinted at how difficult this process is going to actually be after a fairly smooth start. In this episode, things just completely fall apart.
If you've played a Pokémon game, you probably knew this episode of my Nuzlocke run of Pokémon Y was coming: An episode where I spend way, way too long in a cave, fighting off hordes of terrible monsters and gauntlets of omnipresent trainers. I'm really, really excited by what I've seen from Pokémon Sun and Moon, but, hey, one suggestion: Ban all caves.
In which Griffin gets an Egg-cellent new friend, makes some challenging roster cuts, and spends like 20 minutes pondering the risks of a single, fateful attack.
COME ON TJ.
Difficult decisions must be made for the greater good. THE GREATER GOOD.
In today's video, I take on the sixth gym of Pokémon Y, and then stare into the abyss of man's cruelty to man.
Griffin takes the B-Squad on a dangerous rescue mission in the Lost Hotel. Can they retrieve Rotom before the Repels run out?
BUST ON THROUGH WITH MAMOSWINE
A majority of this episode is made up of two incredibly tense battles, with an experimental transition in-between. We're getting close now, gang!
This is not going to be the most soothing installment of my Nuzlocke run through Pokémon Y, in case that's why you're turning to this series this morning. There's a few horrible turnabouts and a general absence of hope throughout the whole endeavor — but from that conflict, heroes are born, and new resolve is found.
In which I, an 11-year-old boy, single-handedly prevent the apocalypse, shatter an army and recruit an immortal god-bird to my squad.
Every video game worth its salt has a section that is far more brutal than the rest of its campaign. Blighttown. Water Temple. The Hoverbike Wind Tunnel. It's been a while since I've played Pokémon Y, so I'd forgotten about one such area, which was not made any easier by the Nuzlocke ruleset I've been following while playing the game. That section will simply be referred to as: The Bridge.
In which my team composition is finally set in stone, and I work my way through the ever-treacherous Victory Road.
After countless painful losses and close scrapes, we arrive at our final destination.
It all comes down to this.
