Series 275: In the Bush (Wednesday) In this series we explore the wonders and diversity of the Australian bush. Throughout the week, Play School is filled with Australia’s unique flora and fauna. Each day, our gumnut people go for a walk in the bush to explore landforms, animals, plants and landscape. Travelling through the windows we have the opportunity to observe possums at close range and native birds on Lake Eyre. We also benefit from a guide’s expertise on bush tucker. PRESENTERS Alex Papps – Justine Clarke PIANIST Peter Dasent STORY You Are My Special Baby Author: Carol Chataway Illustrator: Danny Snell Publisher: Working Title Press FILM Sleep Over at Grandma’s (Play School, ABC) IDEAS FOR LATER - Each state and territory in Australia has its own floral (plant) and faunal (animal) emblems. Find out what they are in your state or territory! - Play a musical bird game! Draw or find pictures of four different Australian birds. Place the bird pictures in different places around a room. Discuss the differences in each bird. Ask an adult to be in charge of playing music. When the music plays, fly around the room like a bird. When the music is paused, the adult has to shout out the name of one of the birds in the room and everyone has to fly to the picture of that bird as quickly as possible. Extend the game by giving clues about the bird instead of naming it. Good birds to use may include rainbow lorikeets, owls, emus, magpies etc. SONGS Peek-a-Boo Composer: Traditional Publisher: Origin/ABC Music Publishing Hoppity Hop the Kangaroo Composer: Jean Edna Webb The Gumtree Family Composers: Peter Dasent & Arthur Baysting Publisher: Origin/Control Walking in the Bush Composer: Tony Strutton Publisher: ABC Music Publishing The Ocean Motion (The Hokey Pokey) Composer: Jimmy Kennedy Publisher: Publisher Campbell Connelly & Co May I Come Over to Your Place?
