"don't look up" has been quite a divisive film -- which is ironic because divisiveness is one of the movie's main topics. i discuss why i enjoyed the film from a philosophical point of view. though it is not revolutionary, it is important to be reminded of. p.s. someone tell me to cut my bangs, they're always in my eyes.
i talk about architectural beauty as capturing the shared identity of a community (as perfectly as possible) and why modern american housing developments fail to deliver in this regard. beauty is a valuable good that should be made more accessible to the public. P.S. anyone catch beethoven's ninth symphony playing when i mentioned the piece?
what is love? how should we love? is proper loving possible in our current culture? i try to talk about these questions in the video. however, please don't take this as an attack on your relationships -- i fail to treat love the way i say we should as well. it's really difficult to be good at love, and so the best we can do is try :)
people who fetishize east-asians are cringe... but could those people involve east-easians themselves? i talk about various topics such as aegyo, asianfishing, orientalism, and the potential positives of self-fetishization. also, i need better lighting.
i used to document my moody preteen life by writing diary entries. as i read through my past diaries, i incorporate philosophy about the pleasure in causing self-pain, the importance of meaning, and research about the effects of sad art.
if a viable fetus and a newborn baby share the exact same physical and psychological traits, then why is abortion permissible and infanticide not? i delve into a couple of papers on this topic. enjoy my amazing animation skills while you're at it.
i wish i had mentioned the politicization of bodies explicitly (e.g., • Why Body Neutrali... ) ***this is NOT a diss on body neutrality. just trying to talk about how it isn't the final solution -- how there can' never be one movement that is objectively better when body image is a complex relationship, unique to every individual.
the tension between the black and asian american community is complicated. with asian american immigrants being both foreigners and racial minorities, how does this position them in a black-white socioracial framework? (if you saw me change the title and thumbnail it's because i'm trying to make the video non-age restricted)
THANKS SISYPHUS 55 for animating and narrating parts of this video!! check out his channel here: / @sisyphus55 do immoral laws lose their legal character? or can legality be separate from morality? i discuss the debate between natural law and legal positivism by examining the nasty regime and a specific case within it.
what's the difference between a meaningless and insignificant existence? how do we cope with an insignificant existence?
it's true that women can internalize gendered norms, but don't we still retain agency?
romantic love is such a powerful force in people's lives. but where does it come from? do our brains naturally crave love or is romance fed to us by social norms and culture?
in our visual-audio society, our main method of communication are images and videos. this has greatly affected our attention span, the purpose of news, and how we interact with information and knowledge. changing the form of a medium changes everything.
