Driving their truck, "Bessie," Shannen and Holly’s Off The Map adventures begin in Kentucky, where the girls zipline the maze of caves underneath Louisville. Their love of animals takes them to a horse sanctuary near Lexington, where they fall in love with a young foal. Next, driving the Bourbon Trail, the girls stop at the award-winning Buffalo Trace Distillery and discover what makes real Kentucky Bourbon. Finally, At Pope’s Creek Ranch’s annual tomato fight, they have to defend themselves when the tomatoes start flying.
The girls arrive in Shannen's home state and get a tour of a scenic little town called Leiper's Fork, ending with a night of music and dancing. Dinner at Knox Mason gives Shannen and Holly a chance to savor Southern cuisine with a local twist. The girls' hunt for real Tennessee moonshine takes them to Short Mountain Distillery, but it's in the deep woods of the Smoky Mountains that the girls learn the secrets to making real Tennessee moonshine.
The weather is hot and steamy as Shannen and Holly arrive in Clarksdale, home of Muddy Waters and the Delta Blues. Shannen soon learns to play the harmonica, and, at Abe's BBQ, they get to taste some of the best ribs the South has to offer. The girls' search for the best of the blues takes them to the home of musician James 'Super Chikan' Johnson, to the famous Ground Zero Blues Club, and to one of the last authentic Mississippi jukes, Po' Monkey's.
Arriving in Guntersville late at night, the girls are promptly pulled over by a police officer. Their driving mishaps continue when they realize Bessie needs a tune-up, but things start looking up when the friendly mechanic invites them to an exciting dirt track race in a few days' time. In the meantime, the girls are amazed to see the impressive nightly flight of thousands of gray bats over Guntersville Lake, and on a visit to a local shooting range, the girls get to pick their best gun with a little help help from a former military weapons specialist.
Arriving in beautiful Savannah, Shannen and Holly decide to stay in one of the prettiest inns in town. On the advice of Shannen's mom, they drop by the Pink House for lunch, where they learn about Savannah's ghostly history. Meanwhile, innkeeper Jackie recommends they check out Mata Hari, a popular speakeasy, and she gives them the secret key they'll need to get in. The girls' love of animals takes them to the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, where they help the staff measure, tag and release a feisty alligator back into the wild. Finally, the traveling duo join a team of ghost hunters at a deserted, haunted building and soon find themselves all alone?
Shannen and Holly arrive in the Florida Panhandle, home to white sand beaches, nesting sea turtles and wild Southern weekend warriors. The girls waste no time entering into a fast-paced, high-stakes poker run in Destin. They also team up with fellow animal activist Bonnie Schumaker, flying over the Gulf waters in a tiny Cessna in search of turtles, dolphins and whale sharks. Shannen and Holly learn how to make a renowned and secret Key Lime Pie recipe and the perfect Key Lime Pie Margarita. They attempt to canoe the "rough" waters of the Grayton Beach outfalls, and finally get up close and personal with some wild dolphins.
