  • S01E01 The Raffle

    Marilyn wants to buy King and when her father cannot purchase King from Herbert, Marilyn decides to trick Velvet into showing him at the club but Velvet cannot ride him, only Marilyn. Marilyn falls off and everybody thinks it's the horses fault. Velvet tells Marilyn how to ride him.

    The water well pump is not working, probably from no rain. The well goes dry. Herbert needs to dig further down. Velvet offers to sell King. Herbert goes to the bank for a loan. It starts to rain.

    Teddy's father (Ed Nelson) is the principal of the High School. Edwina invites Teddy and his father to a BBQ at the Brown's. Edwina wants everything to be perfect. Mi gets Teddy's father to relax with Herbert's Elderberry Wine. Ed starts helping the Brown's with the milking.

    Malcome Porter gets laid off from the dairy and has to find a place for his old horse, Whitey who pulled the dairy wagon. Velvet decides to keep the horse on the farm and he is still not happy until they find work for him to do. Whitey does not want to retire yet.

    Donald has no one to play with so he "invents" a friend and calls him Willy. So Donald leaves and takes King with him. He hides King. Then a real Willy shows up.

    Both Velvet and Teddy are annoyed when Edwina falls for a big-talking college boy, who seems to be good at everything.

    Edwina comes home and tells Mama that Mr Baker is building a new Quarter Horse Ranch. Holly Baker is a friend of Edwina's.

  • S01E16 The Prize

    Martha wins a blue ribbon for her jam at the fair. Then a salesman comes to the farm to buy Martha's Jam and sell it nationwide. They will make lots of money. Herbert gets upset because they won't need the farm anymore. Martha burns the recipe book.

    Despite Mi's advice against it, Velvet enters King in a steeplechase competition.

  • S01E18 Teddy's Exam

    Edwina's forgets to get the books that Teddy needs for a exam. He orders her out of the car and does not take her to the dance. Edwina asks Salley to help Teddy on his exam. Then she has a bad dream. Teddy finds out that Edwina asked Salley to help with his books.

    King has sired a new colt, but does not want the youngster around him, so they have to find a new home for it.

    Velvet's brother finds a stray calf and wants to raise it as a pet instead of selling it.

    Marilyn's groom (Flynn) tells Mi that Marilyn's horse is a better jumper than Velvet's horse, King. Mi calls off the race. Then Velvet decides she wants to race, just to win. Marilyn is riding a beautiful white horse. Velvet wins and then falls off King because Marilyn raised the last jump. Mi gets his ring back. Marilyn and Velvet shake and make friends.

  • S01E22 The Fire

    A brush fire gets too close to the Brown farm. Herbert and Mi have to go and help try and put it out. King escapes from the paddock. Donald finds a wolf in the paddock. Wild animals are running from the fire. Herbert and Mi come back and Herbert has to shoot the wolf.

  • S01E23 The Sissy

    John Oliver Hadley and his mother, Helen move in next door to the Brown's. Mrs Hadley is very protective over Oliver. John rides King without permission and falls off. Johns mother tries to get King put to sleep for being mean. Helen sues the Brown's for $25,000.00. John runs away. John tells his mother he is tired of being treated like a baby. Helen drops the lawsuit.

    Martha's father comes to visit, and suggests that Velvet should ride King in the Grand National steeplechase competition.

    Mi finds out the neighbor's cows are sick with Foot and Mouth. The neighbor lies and says his cows are fine. Mi and Herbert keep having to check to make sure so the other cows don't get sick. Finally they find a dead cow.

  • S01E26 The Beauty Contest

    Velvet is overjoyed when a forthcoming beauty contest causes her older sister to involve Velvet in her activities, causing Velvet to be all the more crushed when Edwina and her friends start ignoring Velvet again.

  • S01E27 The Swindle

    Two men come to the Brown's to look at King. Randolph Stables. They claim King is stolen and have papers to prove it. They claim his name is Highland Star and that Homer bought a stolen horse. Velvet gives King to the men because they promise to train and race King.

  • S01E28 The Circuit

    Horse owner Wilbur Gray, Mi's former employer, wants to lease King from Velvet to compete on the circuit, and offers Mi the position of taking care of the horse.

  • S01E29 The Riding Mistress

    Velvet needs a new jumping saddle and decides to teach riding to a spoiled rich kid named Bradley Walton III.

    Martha's father returns and starts drilling for oil on the Brown farm.

    Mi's father's cousin leaves Mi a niece he has never seen. Mi thinks she is a young child and she is a adult. Leona is her name. Leona is here to marry Mi. Old family arrangement. Velvet finds out Leona has a boyfriend named Johnny whom she left in Ireland. Then Johnny shows up from Ireland looking for Leona. Leona and Johnny get married.

  • S01E32 The Efficiency Expert

    Harrison Willobee, Production Engineer with the Winters Dairy comes to the Brown's Farm to see if the Brown's are handling there business properly.

  • S02E01 The Pony

    An old man, towing a pony in a trailer behind his car, has an accident.

  • S02E02 The Lake

    • September 25, 1961
    • NBC

    A chemical company wants to buy the land around the lake. Velvet calls Mrs. Hadley (John's mother) and she buys the land so the chemical plant cannot be built on the lake.

  • S02E03 The Bully

    John gets beat up by the school bully. Mi teaches John how to fight. (Tiny, Donald's pony is also in the barn.) John beats up the bully.

  • S02E04 The Fall

    While Donald is playing, he spooks King who rears and Velvet falls off and has dizzy spells. This show also has John Hadley. Velvet finally falls off of King in front of Mi. They get a doctor.

  • S02E05 Edwina's Elopement

    Edwina's boyfriend Teddy is in college now. He wants Edwina to elope. Then Teddy calls it off. Then Teddy tried to explain to Edwina it was a computer. Teddy entered the wrong information. Velvet finds out they are a perfect match.

  • S02E06 The Tramp

    Tiny, Donald's pony, is mentioned. Jed Corrigan wants a job. Mi does not like him. Herbert gives him a job chopping wood. Donald takes all the money in the house and the girls room. Donald puts the money in the man's belongings. Martha checks her money can and all the money is gone. The Brown's think the Tramp stole it. The Sheriff searches the Tramp and find the money that Donald put there. The Tramp is arrested. Velvet gets Donald to admit he took the money.

  • S02E07 The Fortune Teller

    While attending the County Fair, Velvet meets a fortune teller, who tells Velvet her horse will have a serious injury.

  • S02E08 Donald's Tonsils

    Donald gets sick and has to have his tonsils out. Doctor also wants to take out Herbert's tonsils. No one in the family wants to tell Herbert. Finally Herbert gets talked into having his tonsils out.

  • S02E09 The Outsider

    Billy comes to visit. He used to be able to see and is now blind. He no longer has hope until he tries jumping King. Then he wants to go back to school.

  • S02E10 The Club

    John and Alvin (the Bully) are friends now. John joins a private Boys only Club leaving Velvet on the outside. The Boys are building a private Club House. No girls are allowed. Only John wants Velvet to stay. Velvet has to do everything Alvin says. Alvin wants Velvet to ride in a pasture with a bull. Alvin trips on a rock and Velvet has to save him from the bull. Then Velvet is in the club.

  • S02E11 The Desperado

    Donald is watching a Black Bar Slade western special in TV. After the show Donald imagines he is fighting with Black Bar.

  • S02E12 The Experiment

    Donald overhears Herbert and Mi talking about a miracle food that grows really fast. The stuff is poison and Donald feeds it to Tiny.

  • S02E13 Terry

    • December 25, 1961

    Terry comes to visit after her mother is injured and is taken by an ambulance. The child looks like a boy but is a girl.

  • S02E14 The Haunted House

    • January 1, 1962

    While out riding Velvet is told there is a "witch" living in a haunted house. She was a former rider. Velvet tries to help. Donald hurts his ankle in the lady's house. He is holding a Breyer Stallion. Ann cannot ride anymore.

  • S02E15 Stable Mates

    • January 8, 1962
    • NBC

    King is homesick for Tiny, he won't race or eat without Tiny. Nobody wants to ask Donald if King can borrow Tiny when he is racing. John tells Donald that Tiny will be going away with King. Donald tells Velvet she can't have Tiny. Then Velvet gets upset because King cannot race without Tiny. Donald goes to Mi and asks why everyone is so sad. Mi tells Donald the truth. Donald tells Velvet Tiny wants to help King race.

  • S02E16 Martha's Beau

    Edgar Torrance and Martha went to school together. Herbert is jealous. Edgar works for the newspaper.

  • S02E17 The Scandal

    • January 29, 1962
    • NBC

    A classmate of Edwina steals $25.00 from the Class Memorial Fund and then goes to Edwina for help in replacing the money. Edwina loans her the $25.00. Then Edwina takes the pick up without permission to drive Betty to the school to replace the money. Herbert calls and asks Mi to bring the pickup. Velvet goes looking for Edwina when she does not come home with the pickup. Edwina ends up at the police station, speeding and driving without a license. Edwina will not tell what really happened because she promised Betty. Betty shows up in court to tell what happened.

  • S02E18 The Star

    Edwina gets to play Juliet in the school play. Velvet has to teach King to pull a cart.

  • S02E19 The Test

    • February 12, 1962
    • NBC

    While John is given a riding lesson by Mi, Alvie shows up and challenges John to a race. Alvie's horse is Duke Simon. John is riding Green Devil, a retired steeplechaser. Mi tells John's mother that the horse is dangerous. Velvet lets John ride King in the race and John loses. Velvet races Alvie and beats him.

  • S02E20 The Feud

    • February 19, 1962

    Herbert and Homer get into a feud when one of Herbert's cows is shot by hunters on Homer's property. Homer and Herbert start fighting over land usage. Homer gets caught in a tree by a tame bear. The bear's name is Daisy.

  • S02E21 Jeopardy

    While Martha is in town taking care of Donald, Edwina is trying to do all the work around the house. Teddy calls and distracts Edwina, when a man comes looking to pick up a horse. Edwina thinks it is the Club picking up King when it is the meat packers. Hr. Herly the owner of the packing house decides to keep King. Herbert and Edwina go looking for King and Mr. Herly tells them King has already gone. Velvet finds out that Edwina made a mistake and tells her she hates her.

  • S02E22 The Rogue Horse

    • March 5, 1962

    While out driving Homer finds a horse that looks like King. Velvet is out riding King and she also she's the wild horse. Velvet wants to save the horse from all the people trying to catch it. Velvet gets a closer look at the horse and sees that it has been beaten. Quincy follows Velvet around to leave traps trying to catch the horse.

  • S02E23 Mi's Citizenship

    Mi needs to pass his citizenship test. Mi is accused of stealing, a felony in England. They are investigating and want to deport Mi. Mi thinks Herbert does not trust him. Mi decides to leave the Brown's. It turns out there were two Michael Taylors in England. Mi passes his test!

  • S02E24 The Rumor

    Velvet and Mi start a rumor to correct another rumor which said Sam Watkins (the Farrier) injured King.

  • S02E25 Ede's Bombshell

    Morton comes to visit, very lazy nephew of Homer's wife. Finally King scares him so bad he starts running, proving his leg is OK.

  • S02E26 The Clown

    • April 2, 1962
    • NBC

    Flynn the Magic Clown meets Donald in a old Railroad Car. Flynn wants to live in a RR. Herbert and the RR Man get into a fight over the land.
