Kabuto versucht Sasuke davon zu überzeugen, sich ihm anzuschließen, um Konoha zu vernichten. Doch sie haben einen Interessenkonflikt.
Kabuto is amused at the fact that Sasuke is now getting along well with his late brother, despite his intent to kill him in the past. Attempting to manipulate him over to his side by saying both their goals are to destroy the Hidden Leaf, Sasuke remains unconvinced as the young man denied his and Kabuto's goals are mutual. Recalling his life as a spy working for Konoha, Kabuto notes that he and Itachi are the same — both worked for the village and yet received dishonour in return. Itachi, however, declares that he is still Konoha's Itachi Uchiha, regardless of its dark side and inconsistencies. Casting the conversation aside, Itachi tells Sasuke about a technique that decides destiny — Izanami, which he will use to stop Kabuto and the Reanimation jutsu. Wasting no time, Kabuto attacks the brothers once more with his Sage Art: Inorganic Reincarnation, causing the cave formations to attack them. Kabuto attempts to rewrite Itachi's mind with the talisman but is thwarted by Sasuke. Kabuto begins to boast about his current abilities and that he is closer than anyone in the world to the Sage of the Six Paths. Criticising the Uchiha name in the process, he was stopped by Sasuke before he could say anything more as Itachi noted Kabuto reminded him of his old self. Kabuto recalls his childhood as an orphan, being raised by Nonō in the Leaf Orphanage, while stating that from the very beginning, he wasn't aware of his identity and that he had nothing all his life.
L'affrontement entre les frères Uchiha et Kabuto se poursuit. Ce dernier n'arrive pas à rallier Sasuke à sa cause ni à rétablir son contrôle sur Itachi. Il reste toutefois confiant dans ses capacités à sortir vainqueur du combat.
Itachi évoque alors un moyen de gagner : Izanami, un jutsu complétant Izanagi.

Kabuto al ver que los hermanos se llevan bien incita a Sasuke a que asesine a Itachi pues el masacro a todo el clan Uchiha, a lo que este recuerda la batalla que tuvo con el y la conversación con Tobi acerca de la verdad del clan y su odio por destruir Konoha ya que la misma aldea no reconoció el sacrifico de Itachi, así Kabuto invita a Sasuke a que se le una a el pues según el el tiene el control de la guerra y también recibió deshonra por parte de la aldea, pero Itachi alega que no le haga caso pues ya tiene lista la técnica con la que detendrá a Kabuto: Izanami el cual permite cambiar el destino, y que forma pareja con el Izanagi, pero Kabuto alega que no importa que técnica usen no lo vencerán. Kabuto usa el Senpō: Mukitensei donde le da vida a las rocas puntiagudas e hiere a Itachi pero Sasuke usa Amaterasu para protegerse, Itachi alega que Kabuto se parece a él y por eso el fracasará entonces Kabuto responde que ellos no saben nada de él y empieza a recordar acerca de su pasado cuando lo llevan a un orfanato por una ninja médico. Donde ésta le regala sus gafas ya que el no podía ver.
