In this first episode Jayne - who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009 - helps Junior - a DJ and father of 11, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2012 - come to terms with his prognosis, and the group has a frank discussion about euthanasia.
The group and their partners and loved ones explore how terminal illness affects those ultimately left behind. Lou confronts her husband over his denial and Andy realises he has to tackle his financial situation for the sake of his wife and daughter's future.
The group's illnesses are progressing and putting affairs in order becomes more pressing. There are differences in opinion about how to tell a child that a parent is terminally ill and Jayne continues the search for the son she gave up for adoption. Junior's cancer is spreading but he's determined to live until his 49th birthday.
The group meet one last time to mark Junior's death and it's apparent that their illnesses are progressing. Ben and Jayne accept more treatment to try to prolong their lives, while Lou introduces her breathing machine to her children.
