My Favorite Martian

Eines Tages bekommt Tim O’Hara Besuch vom Mars – ein äußerst gebildetes und witziges Männchen, das fürderhin den Namen „Onkel Martin“ erhält. Witzige Gags kennzeichnen die Serie, bei der es natürlich darum geht, allerlei Erfindungen zu kreieren, die „Onkel Martin“ wieder zum Mars bringen und seine irdische Existenz den Nachbarn vorenthalten sollen – vor allem dem mit einer netten Nachbars-Oma befreundeten Polizisten „Brannon“ …

On the way to cover an assignment for his paper, The Los Angeles Sun, reporter Tim O'Hara stumbled upon a Martian whose one-man ship had crashed on Earth. Tim took the dazed Martian back to his rooming house to help him recuperate, while thinking of the fantastic story he would be able to present to his boss, Mr. Burns, about his find. The Martian, however, looked human, spoke English, and refused to admit to anyone but Tim what he was. Tim befriended him, passed him off as his uncle, and had many an interesting adventure with the stranded alien.

Tim O'Hara, journaliste pour le Los Angeles Sun, trébuche un jour sur un vaisseau spatial qui s'est écrasé et en découvre le passager, un martien. Tim devient ami avec le Martien, l'héberge chez lui et le présente comme son oncle Martin à son entourage. Oncle Martin ressemble trait pour trait à un homme normal, à ceci près que des antennes rétractables peuvent sortir de sa tête et qu'il a divers pouvoirs tels l'invisibilité et la télépathie. C'est aussi un inventeur chevronné, et au fil des épisodes il construira notamment une machine à voyager dans le temps et un séparateur de molécules.

O programa tinha como personagem principal Tim O’Hara, um repórter que trabalhava no jornal The Los Angeles Sun. Tim descobriu uma espaçonave alienígena que havia se acidentado e feito um pouso de emergência. Dentro da nave ele encontrou um marciano. Ele tornou-se amigo do marciano e trouxe-o para morar com ele e o batizou de Tio Martin. O marciano assumiu a forma humana e aprendeu a falar inglês facilmente, porém um aspecto de sua aparência causava problemas em alguns momentos. Suas antenas, típicas de marciano, insistiam em saltar do topo de sua cabeça nos piores momentos. Martin deixou claro que ninguém poderia saber de sua verdadeira identidade e começou a trabalhar na manutenção de sua nave na garagem da senhora Lorelei Brown. Dentre outros poderes, Martin podia mover objetos sem tocá-los, ler pensamentos e ficar invisível.
