British commercial-maker John Self travels to America to direct a feature film, with backing from financial high-flyer Fielding Goodney. As he hurls himself into a lifestyle of near-total excess, the project becomes plagued by conflicts amongst the cast - and John becomes the target of a menacing stalker.
