Starting School: The First Day of School in Make Believe

Mister Rogers arrives with some pictures of various people around the Neighborhood. He talks about how pictures and sounds can remind you of different people who you haven't seen for a while. To prove this point, Mister Rogers plays on the practice drum pad he purchased at Negri's Music Shop the previous day to remind viewers of his drum teacher and Joe Negri. Returning to Negri's Music Shop, Mister Rogers has some funny pictures taken as he stands behind various cut-outs. Before leaving the shop, Mister Rogers watches as Yong Kim demonstrates how to play music using a handsaw. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, the children are growing more excited about the new school as they all receive their pencil boxes. Meanwhile, the building process on the school grounds nears completion. At the clock, Daniel is still hesitant to go to school as he does not yet know his letters and numbers. Learning from Lady Aberlin that the other children are having great fun watching as the school is being built, Daniel feels a bit more comfortable and agrees to go. Back at the house, Mr. McFeely stops by with copies of the pictures from Negri's Music Shop. As he wraps up for the day, Mister Roges sings Did You Know.
