The owner of Kikuchiya, an Aomori station bento shop where Yoichi's father helped season the bento during his national training period, has come to Tokyo. He laments that he will have no choice but to close the shop if things continue as they are, due to the popularity of Oikawa, a new station bento shop that has opened on the same platform. Not wanting to lose his father's memorable bento, Yoichi takes on the challenge of making a makunouchi bento that surpasses Oikawa's.
