When judging WW2 weapons one aspect is often ignored namely that nowadays we usually use ammo that is of better quality than what available during the war. This of course goes the other way round as well, basically using inferior ammo and than stating that the weapon was "bad", when it was actually an ammo problem. As always context is important.
