The Northern Wars (1558-1721) saw the rise of Russia (Muscovy) as a major European Power and the Fall of Swedish Empire. Generally, there is quite a debate what constitutes a Northern War, for the First Northern War there are according to Frost at least 3 contenders, whereas Wikipedia states 5. As you can see it is a bit complicated. The Great Northern War is probably the best known due to Carolus Rex (Charles XII), who got a bit more famous recently due to Sabaton naming an album after him (2012).
