今回の主役は「国宝 洛中洛外図屏風舟木本」。江戸初期の京都の暮らしを2,500人の人物で描いた日本美術史に残る屏風の傑作。鴨川で鮎を捕る漁師、祇園祭に繰り出す男、しじみ汁を啜る労働者など庶民の姿が活写され、隅々まで楽しい屏風だが、絵には関ケ原合戦後、豊臣秀吉から徳川家康へ統治の実権が移る“時代の変化"も描かれていた。風俗画の至宝を鑑賞しながら、新たな為政者である「家康の巧みな統治術」を読み解く。
Tomohito Yashima will guide us through "Rakuchu Rakugai-zu Byobu Funaki-bon," which depicts the scenery of Kyoto in the Warring States period and shows us how ordinary people lived and the political skills of Ieyasu Tokugawa.
