An evil, paranormal monster haunts the swamps and lagoons of southeast Australia—the bunyip. This devil, evil spirit, or black shadow was one of the last few survivors of some otherwise extinct race. Aboriginal mothers warned their children not to go near the water. Skilled hunters refused to bathe, fish, or even drink from certain watering holes. To outsiders, the bizarre part was this bunyip creature’s description: a large, lurking, enormous, black animal with a “terrible voice” that created terror. Some creature sightings described a demonic, canine, swamp creature. Some even made it sound like an amphibious panther. However, all accounts indicated this black beast could swim up on its prey and pull it down into the depths to be lost to the surface forever.
