  • S01E01 Metal Gear Saga: Volume 1

    • March 14, 2006

The first volume of Metal Gear Saga was given to customers who pre-ordered the North American version of Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence in 2006. The disc came packaged with the European Platinum releases of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. It was never released in Japan. The documentary covers the development of each game from the series' fictional chronology, beginning with Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and progressing to the remainder of the series, briefly touching the then newly-unveiled Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops was not yet announced at the time). The documentary features interviews with Hideo Kojima where he reveals specific details of each game, as well as his thoughts on the Nintendo Entertainment System version of Metal Gear and Snake's Revenge. The disc contains preview trailers of Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, Metal Gear Acid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4.

  • S01E02 Metal Gear Solid: Bande Dessinée

    • June 13, 2006

Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel is a digitized version of the Metal Gear Solid comic drawn by Ashley Wood that has been edited to feature sound effects, animations, and music. In the PSP version users can zoom in and out of the images using the analogue stick and scan specific points of interest as they progress through the story. These scanned images are then stored in a database, which can then be linked together to access more in depth information. The story is based on Metal Gear Solid comic which was written by Kris Oprisko and illustrated by Ashley Wood.

  • S01E03 Metal Gear Saga: Volume 2

    • March 14, 2007

The second volume was originally released in Japan in 2007 (where it was simply titled Metal Gear Saga, since Volume 1 was never released there) as a bonus to customers who purchased Metal Gear 20th Anniversary: Metal Gear Solid Collection. In North America and Europe, an English version of the documentary was released as a bonus to customers who pre-ordered Metal Gear Solid 4. The documentary narrates the fictional events of the Metal Gear storyline beginning with Metal Gear Solid 3 and up to the events leading to Metal Gear Solid 4. The documentary centers around an undisclosed narrator (voiced by Masane Tsukuyama in Japanese and Guy Perryman in English) attempting to track Solid Snake down and narrates the history surrounding him, his father Big Boss (Naked Snake) and his brothers Liquid Snake and Solidus Snake. The disc contains all the preview trailers of Metal Gear Solid 4 released up to that point as a bonus.

  • S01E04 Metal Gear Solid 2: Bande Dessinée

    • June 12, 2008

Metal Gear Solid 2: Bande Dessinée (French for "Franco-Belgian graphic novel style") is a digitized version of the Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty comic book released as a DVD Video in Japan on June 12, 2008, the same day Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was released worldwide. This digital version of the Sons of Liberty comic has been edited to features sound effects, animations, and music in a matter similar to Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel on the PSP, only with full voice acting added as well, essentially turning the comic into a movie. The Japanese DVD release includes a second disc containing a redone version of the original Digital Graphic Novel with full voice acting. Both movies will be released in a single Blu-ray Video disc as part of The Legacy Collection, added in so the player can get through the story in case they weren't able to actually beat the game. The story is based on the Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty comic which was written by Alex Garner and illustrated by Ashley Wood.
