As Match of the Day celebrates 60 years since its first broadcast, BBC Sport looks back through the archives to relive some of the show’s iconic moments. This documentary features rare interview footage with former Match of the Day presenters, including the late Kenneth Wolstenholme, who fronted the very first edition on 22 August 1964. Back then, the programme showed one football match with brief analysis at pitchside. We see how changes through the years have made MOTD what it is today. We also see Gary Lineker’s first forays into TV punditry as his playing career concluded. 2024 sees the presenter celebrating 25 years in the show’s leading role.
