The final 18 Masterchef SA contestants are chosen. The truly traditional South African braai was the focus on the final round of boot camp. It took place at Roots restaurant in the Cradle of Humankind. The contestants had 45 mins to “braai” a dish good enough to go on the Roots menu. Does dessert come to mind when you think braai? Not to me so why would some of the contestants make a dessert when the focus is a braai? Yes one can grill fruits etc but still, I don’t think a dessert is synonymous with a braai. Poor old Sarel used milk chocolate to make a sauce. Andrew Atkinson didn’t hold back whilst pointing out this mistake to Sarel.
