Joey D'Alfonso is a mobster from Chicago relocated to Palm Springs, California in the Witness Protection Program with his wife and kids. Now going by the name Mark Murphy, he's given an Irish pub and instructed to keep a low profile. Being an ex-mobster isn't easy for Mark and he finds himself in unpredictable situations that make it harder and harder for him to "lay low."
Dan The Mailman takes a day off. Mark starts planning his run for mayor to take over Palm Springs, but Uncle Chip has plans of his own, while Lou drives Mark crazy with his own plans and demands. Mark gets a visit from a previous "acquaintance" and Gina takes and gives notice.
Blake makes a phone call to remedy a situation. Mark attempts to deal with The Virus, makes a serious first impression on a newcomer, and thinks he may be losing his touch.
Lou tells a story. Mandy Bixby drops the soap. "Pittsburgh" Bobby visits Mayor Bixby with a business proposition. Mark and Lou plan a new business venture. Gina meets her competition in the "privileged wife" arena. Meanwhile, Mark and Lou, looking to make a connection with The Mayor, try their hands at golf.
Chef loses his knife and Blake finds trouble. Mark needs money, so Butch comes up with a plan for some fast cash. Singing sensation Vince Fontaine walks in and Blake freaks out. Mayor Bixby makes a call. Mark realizes his new domain is being infiltrated, and his past pays him a visit.
Lou consults a higher authority. Mark appears to make peace so he can get the advantage over Mayor Bixby. Gina decides to keep a closer eye on Mark and hires a private investigator, featuring Special Guest Star, Joseph D'Onofrio.
