Marco vive en el seno de una familia pobre en un pequeño pueblo de montaña. Su madre, única fuente de ingresos de la familia, no tiene otro remedio que irse fuera a trabajar para poder mantener a Marco y a su hermano Lucas. La vida de ambos da un vuelco cuando, repentinamente, dejan de tener noticias de ella. Con solo doce años, Marco decide emprender un largo viaje con un objetivo claro: encontrar a su mamá.
