Gangster Morgan Lyden bereitet seinen Flucht aus dem Gefängnis vor. Er ist von dem Gedanken besessen, denjenigen zu töten, der für seine Verhaftung verantwortlich war: Thomas Magnum. Um sein Ziel zu erreichen, kidnappen seine Helfershelfer T.C. und Higgins.
Magnum is out for a morning jog when he is nearly hit by a truck, which moments later is involved in a fatal crash with a car. Meanwhile, T.C. has accidentally made a double booking of Higgins and two tourists, who both want to make flights that morning, and has to compromise by taking all three of them. But the tourist pair turn out to be armed and sky-jack the chopper, and force T.C. to fly to a nearby prison for the daring break-out of an inmate. From there they head to a rendezvous point on a small nearby island, but the damage inflicted on the helicopter during the break-out sees them crash-landing. With the Police short on leads, Thomas and Rick investigate, and the road accident that Thomas was witness to provides a key clue...
Si Morgan Lyden s'évade de la prison Halawa, ce n'est pas seulement pour redevenir un homme libre mais surtout pour assouvir un désir de vengeance. Il veut se débarrasser de Magnum qui est responsable de son arrestation. Morgan prend TC et Higgins en otage, sachant que Magnum viendra à leur secours...
Magnum è fuori per la sua corsa mattutina quando viene quasi investito da un furgone il quale dopo pochi istanti è coinvolto in un incidente fatale con un'auto. Nel frattempo T.C. ha prenotato per sbaglio il suo elicottero a Higgins e a una coppia di turisti e nessuno vuole cedere il turno, così sono costretti a imbarcarsi tutti insieme. Tuttavia i due turisti si svelano essere due criminali armati e dirottano l'elicottero verso la vicina prigione per mettere in pratica un evasione di uno dei carcerati. Durante la foga dell'azione, il velivolo viene danneggiato e costretto ad un atterraggio di fortuna su un'isola vicina. La polizia non ha tracce da seguire, ma Thomas e Rick si organizzano per salvare i loro amici e scoprono che l'incidente del mattino è un indizio chiave per risolvere il caso
Magnum sale a correr por la mañana cuando casi lo atropella un camión, que momentos después se ve involucrado en un accidente fatal con un automóvil. Mientras tanto, TC accidentalmente hizo una reserva doble de Higgins y dos turistas, que quieren tomar vuelos esa mañana, y tiene que comprometerse a llevar a los tres. Pero la pareja de turistas resulta estar armada y secuestran el helicóptero, y obligan a TC a volar a una prisión cercana para la fuga de un recluso. Desde allí, se dirigen a un punto de encuentro en una pequeña isla cercana, pero el daño infligido al helicóptero durante la fuga hace que se estrellen. Con la policía escasa de pistas, Thomas y Rick investigan, y el accidente de tráfico del que Thomas fue testigo proporciona una pista clave...
