The Captain of the Macross is forced to make a quick decision due to the relentless attacks of the enemy. Using alien technology that humanity has not yet been able to test, the Macross makes a space fold near the Earth's surface, above South Ataria Island. Little do they know the consequences this desperate action will have.
Avec les systèmes fold aujourd'hui HS, le capitaine Global et son équipage prennent conscience que le Macross doit faire un long voyage de retour vers la Terre. Les civils - avec leurs magasins et maisons - sont amenés à bord du navire. Pendant ce temps, Hikaru et Minmay sont piégés dans les confins du Macross. Hikaru apprend beaucoup sur Minmay et commence une nouvelle amitié avec elle.
隔離された無人ブロックに帰還した二人は、出口を探しすが結局見つからなかった。12日もの月日が流れ、絶望する二人。一緒に死のうというミンメイに輝の心は揺れるが、その時に不発弾の貫通により壁に穴が開き、二人は助け出された。一緒に死にたいと言ったときとは全く違う、明るいミンメイの姿を見た輝は驚き、また落胆するのであった。
