Shiki awakens in the Tohno household, and is scolded over breakfast by Akiha for being late the previous night. At school, Shiki is relieved to see that Yumizuka, who he had previously believed to be in the hotel when Nrvnqsr attacked, is safe. Shiki is given a party by Akiha, who formally welcomes her brother into the Tohno household. Shiki later converses with Kohaku, one of the maids, and learns that Akiha, despite her stoic demeanor, is pleased by Tohno's presence. Later that evening, Shiki has a dreamlike sequence where Arcueid comes, craving for his blood. The next day at school, Arcueid arrives, calling for Shiki, much to his embarrassment.
Après être parvenu à tuer Nero, Shiki se rétablit de ses blessures chez lui où il se sent toujours un peu étranger, notamment vis-à-vis de sa sœur qui n’apprécie pas son comportement et ses virées nocturnes. Ils vont néanmoins tenter de se rapprocher et de mieux se comprendre…
Shiki viene arrastrándose a casa después de su batalla con Nero. Cuando se despierta por la mañana, su hermana está muy enojada con él por haber desaparecido y no decirle que se iría. Pero debido a lo que hizo no puede revelar dónde estaba. Él va a la escuela y se enfrenta por Ciel y sus amigos. Les asegura que todo está bien, pero Ciel parece extrañamente preocupado por toda la historia. Esa noche, Akiha lanza una fiesta de "regreso a casa" para Shiki y comparten una cena especial. Más tarde las dos sirvientas, Kohaku e Hisui le dicen a Shiki cómo Akiha estaba muy preocupada por él y ella lo ama mucho. Sintiéndose mal, se acerca a hablar con ella. Toman un viaje por el carril de memoria cuando eran niños y cómo jugarían. Shiki recuerda a un niño jugando con ellos, pero Akiha no tiene ninguna recolección de ella. Esa noche, cuando Shiki se acuesta, tiene un sueño que Arcueid se arrastra por la ventana para morderse el cuello.
