KBS에서 전래동화를 소재로 제작하여 방송한 애니메이션. 탄탄한 스토리 전개와 뛰어난 완성도가 볼 만하다. 전래동화라는 한국적인 소재를 잘 표현한 데다 상당히 재미있었으므로 꽤나 인기 있는 만화시리즈였다. 때문에 시청률도 그럭저럭 유지되었는데, 그 덕인지 연속적으로 재방송되었다. 아마 1990년대에 어린 시절과 청소년기를 보냈으며, 더불어 집에 텔레비전이 있던 사람들이라면 누구나 한 번쯤은 봤을 듯한 만화다.
