Trois ans après la disparition de sa femme, Georges reçoit une lettre signée d’elle : "Je vais bien, je vous aime". Impossible, puisqu’elle a été déclarée morte deux ans plus tôt. Quand Laurie, la compagne du commandant Stanislas Léger, disparaît à son tour en laissant une lettre similaire, l’affaire devient personnelle.
