Lockie Leonard zieht mit seiner Familie ins beschauliche Küstenstädtchen Angelus im Westen Australiens. Der Zwölfjährige muss sich nicht nur an die merkwürdigen neuen Nachbarn gewöhnen, sondern sich auch einen gänzlich neuen Freundeskreis suchen. Darüber hinaus droht das Haus der Familie ständig, dem nahegelegenen Sumpf zum Opfer zu fallen. Was auf den ersten Blick ziemlich ernüchternd klingt, erweist sich für Lockie schon bald als Glücksfall: Der leidenschaftliche Surfer entdeckt nämlich, dass es am Strand eine ordentliche Brandung mit super Wellen gibt.

It can only mean trouble, worry, mega-embarrassment and some wild, wild times. Lockie Leonard, hot surf-rat, and his family have just moved to the most remote town on earth, Angelus. For Lockie this is a TOTAL LIFE DISASTER: no friends, new school and a house that is truly in danger of disappearing into a swamp… but then Lockie spots the one thing that makes it all okay, this weird little town has the best surf he has ever seen. Through the eyes of Lockie Leonard we view the truly mixed-up, yet very normal life of Lockie, his family and friends.

Lockie Leonard et sa famille (déjantée) débarquent dans la petite ville côtière d'Angelus en Australie. Surfeur plutôt du genre doué, Lockie a du mal à s'intégrer sans faire de vagues. Pas facile d'être amoureux de la fille la plus populaire du collège, d'avoir un père policier psychorigide, une mère surprotectrice, un petit frère qui joue les durs et mouille encore son lit et une petite sœur qui ne marche pas encore mais adore manger le lino !
