Sam kommt nur schwer mit seinem Schicksal, im Jahre 1973 gefangen zu sein, klar. Um seine Gefühle zu verdrängen, stürzt er sich in die Arbeit. Um ihn dennoch festhalten zu können, will Lieutenant Hunt ihm gefälschte Beweise unterjubeln, doch Sam pocht darauf, Trent laufen zu lassen und ihn stattdessen zu beschatten. Hunt erklärt sich einverstanden. Kurz darauf begeht Trent dann einen weiteren Banküberfall, bei dem Hunt und Sam jedoch vor Ort sind. Aber auch die Reviersekretärin June ist anwesend, obwohl sie dort nicht hätte sein dürfen. Bei einem Schusswechsel mit Kim Trent wird June dann schwer verletzt und muss ins Krankenhaus gebracht werden. Als sie dort wieder erwacht und erfährt, dass Kim Trent bei dem Schusswechsel getötet wurde, bricht sie zusammen und gesteht, dass sie ihn bei den Banküberfällen unterstützt hat. Währenddessen lernt Sam seine Nachbarin Windy kennen und lernt deren unbeschwerte Art immer mehr zu schätzen.
