Superintendent Otojiro Kogure (Bunta Sugawara), a veteran detective at he Metropolitan Police Department, shoots and kills his granddaughter's killer, Osamu Ikuhara (Takahito Suzuki). Furuhata, who was put in charge of the murder case, has doubts about Kogure's alibi of being on a stakeout, but what can one do when the prime suspect is a veteran police detective?

警視庁のベテラン刑事である小暮音次郎警視（菅原文太）は、孫娘の仇であるチンピラの生原治（鈴木隆仁）を射殺する。この時小暮は大麻取引の張り込み中で、それを逆手に取ってアリバイを確保していた。殺人事件の担当になった古畑はそのアリバイに疑問を持つが、小暮に隠れて張り込んでいた後輩刑事によってアリバイは立証される。
