Mystery novelist Banzuin Dai (Shofutei Tsurube) strangles his wife Fusako (Takayanagi Yoko) after having an affair with his secretary. Using a fax machine, Dai makes it look like a kidnapping was done by a third party. However, Furuhata has doubts about the unprecedented threat by fax and the unnatural behavior of Banzuin as the pages continue to arrive on a strange timeline.
推理小説家・幡随院大（笑福亭鶴瓶）は秘書との不倫の末、妻・フサ子（高柳葉子）を絞殺する。第三者による殺人に仕立てるために、FAXを利用して妻の誘拐を偽装する。しかし、古畑は前代未聞のFAXによる脅迫や幡随院の不自然な行動に疑問を持つ。その頃幡随院の別荘では文書が送信されていた。
