一月中旬、センター試験からの帰り道、暦は道で余接と出会った。聞けば彼女は、余弦に頼まれてある探し物をしているのだという。暦は勉強に忙しいが、放って帰るのも気が引ける。手伝うことにした暦だったが、余接は探し物が何か答えない。
