Nobody's Boy (1)

An orphan, Remi, is entrusted to the Barberin family: the loving mom makes crepes for her fostered kid, her husband is a crude brute, whose affairs in Paris went wrong and left him an embittered man. Thus he sells Remi to a busker who takes the boy on all the roads of the country with his troupe of animals: three dogs and a monkey. As they travel through the land, Remi meets Arthur, a disabled boy who lives with his mother on a boat. He would like to stay with them, at Arthur's insistence, but fate decides otherwise.

Adaptation par Jean Louis RONCORONI du roman d'Hector MALOT, "Sans famille", réalisée pour la télévision par Yannick ANDRÉI. L'action se déroule à la fin du 19e siècle. Chez les Barberin, c'est la misère. Ils sont obligés de se débarrasser du jeune Rémi, un enfant trouvé et recueilli quelques années auparavant, mais qui devient une trop lourde charge pour leurs maigres ressources. Un beau jour, un vieillard à l'accoutrement bizarre, un certain Vitalis, montreur d'animaux de son état, vient leur acheter l'enfant. Tous deux partent sur les chemins de campagne entourés des animaux de Vitalis : les trois chiens Capri, Zerbine, Dolce et le singe déguisé en militaire d'opérette Joli-Coeur.
