Seine Bemerkungen gehen nicht nur durch die japanische Presse und machen Druck auf die New Yorker Behörden. Inzwischen sind Briscoe und Green auf ein Mitglied der kriminellen Organisation Yakuza gestoßen: Bobby Ito leugnet zunächst, ist aber gegen ein Angebot von McCoy bereit, sich schuldig zu bekennen und gegen Yoshida auszusagen, der ihm den Auftrag zur Ermordung seiner Frau gegeben habe.

Una volta arrestato, però, l'uomo dichiara a McCoy e alla Southerlyn di aver agito su incarico del marito per l'assicurazione sulla vita. L'uomo è ritornato in Giappone e i rappresentanti diplomatici del paese si dimostrano poco propensi a concederne l'estradizione...
