Aus einem vorbeifahrenden Auto wird eine Frau erschossen. Briscoe und Curtis versuchen, ihren Ehemann unter Druck zu setzen, der offenbar mehr weiß als er zugibt. Kurz darauf gelingt es den Ermittlern, den Schützen zu fassen. Die Staatsanwälte McCoy und Ross stoßen jedoch während der Verhandlung auf Ungereimtheiten, die auch den behandelnden Arzt verdächtig erscheinen lassen.

Briscoe e Curtis indagano su una coppia che viene aggredita a colpi di pistola nella loro macchina; lui sopravvive e lei muore cerebralmente. Dopo qualche indagine i detective individuano l'uomo che ha sparato alla coppia e lo catturano. Ma le cose si complicano per McCoy e la Ross quando emergono delle discrepanze nella cartella clinica della donna in relazione dell'orario della sua morte e si fa strada l'ipotesi di sospettare di un chirurgo che ha espiantato gli organi.
