New Kings and Generals animated historical documentary series will focus on the Normans and their conquests in the Mediterranean, starting with the campaigns in South Italy, as the descendants of the Vikings create their states in the area taking on the overlords of the land - Byzantines, Lombards and the Pope. The first major conflicts will culminate at the battle of Civitate between the Normans of Humphrey of Hauteville and Robert Guiscard against the Papal alliance of Pope Leo IX.
