The Berks County mom heads north to Alaska with her brood, at eight hours, their longest trip ever. On their trip the family hope to see snow-covered mountains, glaciers and whales. Along the way the kids get to try a ride on an Iditarod dog sled, to Kate's chagrin; the family gets to pan for gold in the river and take a boat ride out to sea to hopefully see giant whales leaping in front of them.
Kate and the kids head north for one last summer adventure. There are fun things planned along the way like a stop at Plimoth Plantation, lobster filled lunches, arts and crafts, and outdoor excursions.
