Part 1 introduces Abel Rosnovski (Peter Strauss), a Polish immigrant determined to make good, and William Kane (Sam Neill), a Boston Brahmin being groomed to rule a banking empire.
Flourishing despite the Depression, Abel (Peter Strauss) allies himself with the scheming David Osborne (David Dukes) to topple Kane (Sam Neill), who has other boardroom fights on his hands.
Conclusion. After 25 years, an ironic twist in the bitter feud between Kane (Sam Neill) and Abel (Peter Strauss) estranges the financier from his son and the hotelier from his daughter (Kate McNeil).
