  • S01E01 The Big House

Things seem to be looking up when slick new manager Cale comes into Jann’s life, promising to reinvigorate her career. But that might prove challenging when her mom Nora, who’s showing early signs of memory loss, moves in with her.

Meanwhile, Jann’s ex-manager Cale shows up and it’s clear being fired by Jann has broken her.

    Jann wants to record a new album from the heart. Since she’s managing herself now, she goes directly to her old music exec, who practically laughs her out of the office. Meanwhile, Nora accidentally steals makeup from the mall, and Jann and Max go to a caregiver support group to learn how to better deal with a parent with dementia. At the support group, Jann gets an unlikely answer to her album problem.

Meanwhile, Nora and Trey help Cale overcome her fear of failure.

At Charley’s photography exhibit, Max sees horrible pictures of herself and experiences a crisis of confidence.

    Jann’s crowdfunding campaign for her new album reaches its goal, thanks to an $80,000 donation from a mysterious anonymous donor. Jann, determined to figure out who donated the money, enlists Trey to help her investigate her “suspects,” which culminates in crashing a funeral. But the biggest revelation comes while investigating Jann’s ex-girlfriend — as it’s clear Cynthia is truly moving on without Jann.

But the biggest drama of all comes when Jann realizes she’s accidentally gotten herself into a love triangle.

With her assistant Trey (Tenaj Williams) for company, she reminisces about Christmases past – the good, the bad, and the humiliating – and it soon becomes clear there’s more than one way to holiday. The special also showcases Arden performing classic holiday standards and features guest appearances by Michael Bublé and Bryan Adams.
