Istanbul, Beyrouth, Bagdad, Le Caire. Dès la fin du XIXème siècle, pour se former aux nouvelles techniques de création, les artistes de l’ex-Empire ottoman mettent le cap sur l'Europe. Mais ce chemin va les rapprocher de leurs propres sources. Peu à peu, les artistes de la région vont raconter un monde aux trésors méconnus, inventant en chemin une modernité́ alternative.
