Par lést þegar bát steytti á skeri skammt frá Laugarnesi árið 2005. Þriggja manna fjölskylda bjargaðist naumlega af kili bátsins aðeins nokkrum mínútum áður en hann sökk. Margt er einkennilegt við þennan atburð og ljóst að atburðarásin var með allt öðrum hætti en skipstjóri bátsins hélt fram.
