Dano and welcome to the pilot episode of our new podcast, Is Paul Dano OK? The show where we discuss the numerous artistic endeavours of the actor, director, screenwriter, producer and musician, Paul Franklin Dano. On this episode we discuss our Paul Dano credentials, discuss our blind spots in his filmography and give a bit of sizzle for the season to come.
On our first episode we were joined by culture journalist and OG #BongHive advocate, Iana Murray to discuss Bong Joon-ho's Okja, which was released on Netflix in 2017. Okja was co-written by Jon Ronson, shot by Darius Khondji and scored by Jung Jaae-il. The film stars Paul Dano, Ahn Seo-hyun, Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal, Byun Hee-bong, Steven Yuen, Giancarlo Esposito, Lily Collins, Yoon Je-moon and Shirley Henderson.
For our second episode we were joined by Empire Magazine's deputy editor, Nick de Semlyen, author of Wild And Crazy Guys: How The Comedy Mavericks Of The ‘80s Changed Hollywood Forever. This time around we're here to discuss Jon Favreau's 2011 Sci-Fi Western, Cowboy's & Aliens. Cowboy's & Aliens is based on the graphic novel by Scott Mitchell. The film stars Paul Dano, Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell, Clancy Brown, Keith Carradine, Walton Goggins, Abigail Spencer, Adam Beach and Ana de la Reguera.
Our third episode delves into an earlier Paul Dano film where we're joined by writer, producer, director, actor and comedian, Dan Thomas to talk about The Girl Next Door (2004). The Girl Next Door stars Paul Dano, Elisha Cuthrbert, Emile Hirsch, Timothy Olyphant, James Remar, Olivia Wilde, Chris Marquette, Sunny Leone, Sung-Hi Lee and Luther Reigns.
We've been joined by film journalist, podcaster and photographer Leslie Byron Pitt for our fourth episode, where we're talking about Ang Lee's 2009 film, Taking Woodstock. Taking Woodstock is based on the book by Elliot Tiber and Tom Monte. The film stars Paul Dano, Demetri Martin, Imelda Staunton, Henry Goodman, Liev Schreiber, Jonathan Groff, Eugene Levy, Emile Hirsch, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Katherine Waterston and Dan Fogler.

Liam is co-host of the Spocklight podcast and occasional film critic with BBC Surrey and BBC Sussex. s04306 Everybody Hurts (2002) was directed by Steve Buscemi, while s05e13 All Due Respect (2004) was directed by John Patterson. For our fifth episode we're joined by Chris Johnston from Easy Riders Raging Podcast to discuss Rian Johnson's Science Fiction/ Action flick, Looper (2012). Looper stars Paul Dano, Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emily Blunt, Noah Segan, Piper Perabo, Jeff Daniels and Garrett Dillahunt.
Another early Dano film this time around as we talk L.I.E. with Amélie Thomas from the erotic thriller podcast, Fatal Attractions. L.I.E. stars Paul Dano, Brian Cox, Billy Kay, Bruce Altman and Walter Masterson. Our boy PFD won Best Debut Performance at the Independent Spirit Awards for his role as Howie Blitzer.
This time around we were joined by the Caged In podcast host and film blogger, Petros Patsilvas to discuss the 2012 film, Being Flynn. Being Flynn is adapted from the novel, Another Bullshit Night in Suck City by Nick Flynn. The film stars, Paul Dano, Robert De Niro, Julianne Moore, Olivia Thirlby, Lili Taylor, Katherine Waterston, Wes Studi, Dale Dickey, Vuctor Rasuk. Oh... and the soundtrack is from Badly Drawn Boy.
Our final episode of Season 1 is the awards darling, Little Miss Sunshine, which we are covering with Eleanor Parker, host of Bygones: The Ally McBeal Podcast. Little Miss Sunshine stars Paul Dano, Greg Kinnear, Steve Carrell, Toni Collette, Abigail Breslin, Alan Arkin, Bryan Cranston and Beth Grant. Our boy PFD won Best Supporting Actor at the Independent Spirit Awards for his role as Dwayne Hoover.
