Animals have been observed to exhibit odd behavior prior to a disaster, from becoming agitated to making a quick dash for safety. This was clearly demonstrated during the 2004 Indonesian tsunami when local wildlife generally escaped harm. Some scientists believe that the animals are sensing physical changes that we simply aren't sensitive enough to detect. Others, however, believe they have psychic powers of prediction.
