A Swedish fisherman disappears without a trace in Scotland, fifty years after his father disappeared in exactly the same way. Winter contacts his colleague Steve Macdonald and together they start an investigation that takes them far out into the Scottish Highlands. At the same time, Aneta Djanali is investigating a suspected case of abuse of women in Gothenburg.
