Many people hate flying. For some, the possibility of being involved in a plane accident is too terrifying. Who would look forward to being sucked out of a broken plane window thousands of feet above the ground? Fortunately, major plane crashes with large numbers of fatalities are a rare event nowadays. One article reports that the “odds of being killed on a single airline flight are one in 4.7 million.” And contrary to popular belief, most plane crashes are survivable. Reports estimate that the survival rate for airplane accident victims is 96%. Another piece of good news is that you don’t have to feel like your life is completely in the hands of fate when you are flying in a plane.
