Dolphins with Robin Williams

Inquisitive about people, dolphins are among the most endearing of all wild animals. Comic genius Robin Williams seems to be just about the perfect human match. "Dolphins are smooth, fast, bright and playful. When you’re swimming with dolphins trying to crank up to their speed, you feel like a sumo wrestler trying to do a speed swim. Basically, they’re Carl Lewis and I’m Fatty Arbuckle." This entertaining and touching hour reveals a Robin Williams who is both a hilarious performer, and a spirited and curious adventurer capable of remarkable feats. Williams, whose adventure takes him to Hawaii and the Bahamas, chose the dolphin because he’s long been intrigued by the animal’s intelligence and liking for human contact. They even seem to have the ability to communicate in ways that seem human. In Hawaii, Williams gets the chance to talk with experts in dolphin language and discovers they even watch TV! Then, in the Bahamas, he frolics with sixty spotted dolphins forty miles out in the Atlantic Ocean and compares one frisky youngster to his young son Cody. Especially touching is his sense of kinship with one older dolphin he meets, who leaves him with a strong and emotional feeling of real communication.
