“In Performance at the White House: Fiesta Latina” is a concert hosted by the President and Mrs. Obama on the South Lawn of the White House that will be broadcast by PBS. The sixty-minute program, edited down from a ninety-minute concert that was taped live by WETA Washington, D.C., on October 13, celebrates Hispanic musical heritage. The broadcast, part of the WETA “In Performance at the White House” series, premieres on the final day of National Hispanic Heritage Month, October 15, 2009 at 8 p.m. ET, on PBS stations nationwide.
“In Performance at the White House: A Celebration of Music from the Civil Rights Movement” is a concert in the White House East Room that WETA will produce. President and Mrs. Obama will host the event in honor of Black History Month. President Obama will present the Gershwin Prize to McCartney during the event.

The event also marks the first hip-hop performance in the “In Performance at the White House” broadcast series. The song selections for the evening draw from American-originated musical genres, including hip-hop, blues and the American Songbook. The hour-long program, part of the Emmy Award-nominated “In Performance at the White House” series, is the fifty-fifth production in the series’ thirty-seven year history.
