该节目导演车澈认为，目前市场上很多音乐节目以翻唱为主，原创音乐缺乏一个展示的平台。什么是好的原创音乐本身没有标准答案，但他希望试图通过这档节目去创造一场讨论，八位唱作人的比赛就是一个探讨的过程。有了讨论，中国的原创音乐才会越来越好
